Navajo Rug Table Runner
Stunning Two Grey Hills very fine Antique Navajo Rug. Pre-1920's, this weaving is all natural in color, with no dyed wools used. Excellent condition with all four tassels and no holes or stains.
Decorated by a very elegant central serrated diamond medallion with feathered arrows on either end. The striated brown ground is achieved by hand carding black and white wool together. Often these patterns were taken from sacred sanding paintings that were used in healing ceremonies in the Navajo culture. The weaving has a brown spirit line in one corner, which would lend to the idea this is a special design as the energy must be allowed to flow in and out of the composition through this line, lest it be trapped.
37 1/4" long by 17 1/2" wide
