Robert & Bernice Leekya 14k Gold Overlay on Sterling Bolo Tie w/ Turquoise

Robert and Bernice Leekya

14k gold overlay on sterling silver with natural hand-carved turquoise bolo tie, made by the famous Zuni Pueblo husband and wife team of Robert and Bernice Leekya. 14k gold vintage bolo tips on black leather braided cord.

Robert and Bernice Leekya both come from jewelry-making royalty among the Zuni that includes her parents, Wayne and Doris Ondelacy, and his father, Leekya Deyuse. A true convergence of American Indian jewelry-making dynasties, the Ondelacy's and Leekya's work is highly sought after to this day.

The turquoise used here was hand-carved and likely come from the Morenci mine in Arizona: known for the bright blue color, black matrix, with mica and white quartz inclusion in the stone.

Signed "RLB 14k Sterling” on the top underside of the bolo. Tips unsigned but acid test as 14k gold.
