Large Squash Blossm Necklace

American Indian Silversmith

Vintage Sterling Silver and Turquoise Squash Blossom Necklace.

This chunky statement piece was made by a talented Navajo silversmith using carefully selected bright blue natural turquoise stones.

Made up of a large central Naja or crescent shaped pendant that is a symbol of fertility and abundance and also Squash Blossoms that run up each side of the necklace.  This necklace took great skill to execute as it has stamped wire bounding each stone and tiny twisted wire in between the two.  The natural turquoise has been careful shaped and polished to a glossy sheen, also quite a feat.

Measuring 28 1/2" long with the Naja being 3 1/4" wide and 3 1/2" tall

Ruby was wearing this the first time she met George, at a mutual friend's wedding.  It complemented her Gretchen Jones NYC fall 2011 outfit of gray silk arrow print blouse and peach silk skirt, lent to her from the designer, a dear friend.  George saw he from afar, heard her spirited laugh and the rest is history...
