Chief's Headdress Bolo Tie

Zuni Inlay Vintage Bolo tie in shape of Chief's Head with Full War Bonnet Headdress by Ralph Quam.

Using colorful shells like red spiny oyster, abalone and stones like malachite and turquoise talented Zuni silversmith Ralph Quam, created this striking bolo tie necklace in the late 1960's. The Bennett bolo clasp on the back started being used by the Zuni around 1957.

Part of the Quam family dynasty, you can see the heritage and talent he brings to his creations. An applied plaque on the back is marked R Quam, which is sometimes misattributed to Raymond Quam (but he was not a silversmith).

Currently unstrung, we will string and finish this to the buyer's wishes.
